The strings of the kanklės of North Eastern Aukštaičiai are harmonized by seconds according to sound systems of vocal sutartinė so that you have minor, major, leading or full tone five cord. 6 - 7 string kanklės are harmonized in a similar way. The kanklės of Western Aukštaičiai, Žemaičiai and Suvalkiečiai are harmonized diatonic major sound system.
