The ways of playing kanklės also influence timbres. By using bone, wooden or feather bone, and touching the string with the nail of the finger, the string gets deformed more - the amplitude of vibration becomes higher, what produces more overtones. The sound is fuller and sharper. By vibrating the string with the end of the finger the string is less deformed, and one gets a timbres with less overtones, softer and lower.
